Our commitment

A Commitment to Reject Evil and Follow Christ

“Reject Satan” isn’t a slogan. It means turning away from whatever pulls people from God and from one another — and turning toward Jesus, who shows us how to love.

We reject

  • ✓Lies and deception
  • ✓Cruelty and violence
  • ✓Hatred and division
  • ✓Exploiting the vulnerable

We choose

  • ✓Truth
  • ✓Mercy
  • ✓Reconciliation
  • ✓Protecting children and families

Wherever you worship — or if you’re still seeking — you’re welcome here.

Three ways to live it

Reject · Pray · Follow

Stay alert

Reject

“Resist him, steadfast in your faith”

1 Peter 5:9, NRSVue · read 5:8–9

Evil rarely announces itself. Notice what draws you away from God and from love of neighbor, and turn from it.

This week: Name one habit or influence to turn away from.

Be strong

Pray

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power”

Ephesians 6:10, NRSVue · read 6:10–18

We don’t stand against evil on our own strength. Prayer keeps us close to the One who gives it.

This week: Pray the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9–13) each morning for Memphis.

Love one another

Follow

“Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.”

John 13:34, NRSVue · read 13:34–35

Following Jesus is measured in love you can see — at home, at work, and on the streets of our city.

This week: Do one concrete act of love for a neighbor.

Pray with us

A Prayer for Memphis

God of light and mercy, we turn to you. Guard us from evil and from every lie that divides us. Teach us to follow Jesus with open hearts and willing hands. Protect the children and families of Memphis, comfort all who suffer, and make us instruments of your peace. Amen.

Then pray together the prayer Jesus taught us — Matthew 6:9–13.

I’ll pray daily for Memphis

You don’t walk alone

Find a Christian Community

Following Jesus was never meant to be a solo project. Find a church near you where you can worship, pray, grow, and serve alongside others.

Visit a church this Sunday

Introduce yourself, ask how they serve the city, and tell them you took the pledge. Already part of a church? Invite a friend to come with you. We encourage everyone to be active in a local church.

Lead where you live

Become a Movement Ambassador

Be a trusted point of contact for prayer and service in your neighborhood or church. Ambassadors are listed on our public Ambassador sheet so neighbors can reach them, and every Ambassador agrees to a short Code of Conduct.

Who we are

A Citywide Christian Movement

Reject Satan Memphis began right here in Memphis, Tennessee. We welcome Christians of every tradition who confess Jesus Christ as Lord, as well as anyone still seeking Him.

Where the name comes from. From the early centuries of the Church, Christians preparing for baptism have been asked to renounce Satan and turn to Christ. Catholics still renew those promises today: “Do you reject Satan?” “I do.” We borrow the words because they say plainly what every follower of Jesus is called to do.

This is not a new church or a parish program. It is a Memphis-wide effort to encourage individuals, strengthen families, and put lived faith to work in our neighborhoods.
